"The Story of PomoKing – A Farmer's Fight for Dignity"

My name is Darshan, and before I am anything else, I am a farmer. I wake up at 4:30 AM, not because I want to, but because the farm doesn't wait. The scorching Karnataka sun shows no mercy by 10 AM, and my pomegranate trees need me before the heat becomes unbearable. My hands are calloused, my back aches from years of bending, and some mornings, I wonder if this is all worth it.

But then I look at my trees—each one planted with hope, nurtured with sweat, protected like my own children. And I remember why I do this. When you buy a PomoKing pomegranate, you're not just buying fruit. You're buying a piece of my soul. You're buying 10-15 months of sleepless nights, of prayers for rain, of fighting against nature's wrath and man's greed.

You're buying a small victory against a system that has crushed farmers like me for generations.

The Cost You Don't See:
A Farmer's Invisible Burden

Let me tell you what it really costs to grow a pomegranate.

The Investment That Never Ends

Before a single fruit appears, I invest ₹3-4 lakhs per acre. Drip irrigation systems, quality saplings, organic manure, bio-fertilizers, labor wages, electricity for water pumps, protective nets, pruning tools—the list never ends. Most of this money comes from high-interest loans from local lenders because banks demand paperwork that takes months.

"For 10-15 months, I invest. For 10-15 months, I wait. For 10-15 months, I pray."

The Weather—Nature's Cruel Gamble

In 2023, unseasonal rains destroyed 40% of my crop. The fruits split open, useless overnight. In 2022, a severe drought dried up my bore well. I spent an additional ₹80,000 on water tankers just to keep the trees alive. Every season is a battle against forces I cannot control, with no insurance to cover agricultural losses.

The Daily Grind—Blood, Sweat, and Tears

I check each tree personally. 500 trees across 2 acres. I spray bio-pesticides by hand. During fruiting season, we cover each pomegranate cluster with paper bags to protect from pests and birds. My daughter's small fingers are often cut by thorns, but she never complains. Some nights, I sleep in the farm shed with a torch and a stick, protecting my crop from wild boars and thieves. This is the reality no one sees.

The Harvest Betrayal:
Where the Farmer is Robbed

After 10-15 months of investment, harvest day arrives. This should be a day of celebration. Instead, it's the day when I'm reminded how little my labor is worth. The commission agents (dalals) arrive in their SUVs, inspect casually, and announce their price: ₹40 per kg. Take it or leave it.

I have no negotiating power or cold storage. So I accept, knowing the same pomegranate will sell in Mumbai's supermarkets for ₹180-200 per kg.

The Brutal Mathematics

  • I sell at: ₹40 / kg
  • Agent's cut (20%): - ₹8 / kg
  • Transport & pkg: - ₹6 / kg
  • Market fees & taxes: - ₹4 / kg
  • Loan & interest: - ₹10 / kg
  • What reaches my hand: ₹12 / kg

From ₹40, I get ₹12. The middlemen pocket ₹28. They take 70% of the value without planting a single tree. And you pay ₹150-200 per kg.

PomoKing:
Cutting Out the Middlemen

I started PomoKing not out of ambition, but out of desperation. I was tired of working like a slave while others profited from my labor. When you buy directly from PomoKing, there are no commission agents, no market middlemen, and no supermarket markups.

Your money reaches the people who actually grew your food—the farmer who invested his savings, the daily wage workers, and the family depending on this farm.

This isn't charity. This is justice. This is fair trade.

Join the PomoKing Movement

This is not just about pomegranates. This is about the survival of Indian farming itself. Every pomegranate you buy helps me repay loans, pays fair wages to my workers, funds my daughter's education, and proves that honest farming can survive in modern India.
